The biggest thing to remember is that while going down the hill always remain on an edge…Its when your board becomes flat that you fall, also try and make it as though your belt buckle(if you have one) if facing the bottom of the mountain..

Bring a friend who can give you one on one instruction, or hire an instructor, you won’t believe how far you’ll progress with some good help.

commit to it, when your going for a toeside turn you just gotta force yourself to do it, just throw that front foot out there. you feel like you’re going faster than you are especially at the beginning, don’t sway, keep yourself centered so you don’t lose yourself. its all in the hips

Snowboarding is awkward. Its weird to have your feet strapped to one piece of wood. You dont need to have to be on your edge the whole time…that make no sense. You do need to commit. Carving toe edge or heel edge its committing to the turn and putting it all out there. If you want to go goofy, or go backwards with you non-dominate foot backward, and learn how to ride this way….do it early. The more accustomed to riding normal you get the harder to learn to ride goofy. If you can start hitting little humps as well and get a little air off them if you wanna progress more towards tricks and just cruising.

When you say “backwards” do you mean riding fakie?

To become better find a friend who is a bit better than you and ask them to take you on a few (easy) runs. If you follow their line that’ll make you not have to think so hard about where you’re going and leave you able to just think about the turn you’re about to take. When you make a turn commit to it and remember to not dig an edge in until you’re past the fall line.

My friend told me “when in doubt ride it out” and that was a great piece of advice. It takes a while to get comfortable on the board and with speed and give it the time it needs, it’ll click before you know it.
